BSL Interpreting Bookings

• preparation time
• commuting time on either side of the booking
• contact time with the clients during the booking
• buffer time in case a booking overruns
• time to debrief with clients after a booking if needed
• administration time
• a portion of the fee covers time spent on Continuous Professional Development hours which is necessary to maintain NRCPD registration

Travel expenses will be calculated by mileage at £0.45 per mile plus approximate parking costs and tolls if applicable.  

• 0 – 7 days prior to date of assignment: 100% of agreed fee
• 8 – 14 days prior to date of assignment: 50% of agreed fee
• 15+ days prior to date of the assignment: no fee

Due to the physical and cognitive demands of interpreting, more than one interpreter may be required for bookings over 1 hour, depending on the intensity of the work involved. This will ensure the accuracy and quality of the interpretation is maintained, whilst protecting the interpreter’s health and safety. I have a network of trusted colleagues and can assist with sourcing a coworker if required. When I am not suited to a booking request, I refer work to colleagues who have relevant specialist expertise, cultural knowledge and lived experience.
